@Max SyncUp review

@Max SyncUp helps you take care of your data by providing you with an extremely customizable way of transferring your important files to another location. The software comes free of charge and supports local backups as well as Web-based ones like FTP and Google Drive. You can even set up two PCs that have the app installed to talk to each other and transfer files back and forth.

Pros

Three transfer profiles: @Max SyncUp lets you run three types of transfers -- backups from your computer to another storage device; backups from an external device to your computer; and a bidirectional backup that is essentially synchronization. Each profile is extremely customizable when it comes to automation, file filters, and encryption.

Fast: We copied 3.42GB of data in a little over seven minutes over a USB 2.0 port, using a backup scheme where the data on our thumb drive automatically copied to our PC whenever we connected that thumb drive.

Network support: If you have two PCs running the software, you can set them up so they can transfer files back and forth, not only on local Wi-Fi, but also over the Internet. The downside is that firewall and router configuration is required. As a cloud alternative, you can also set up a backup to a WebDAV, an FTP server, and even to Google Drive.

Cons

Limited cloud storage support: Currently there is support for only one cloud storage destination -- Google Drive. If you're using any of the other services like Dropbox, Box, or OneDrive, you're out of luck.

Bottom Line

@Max SyncUp manages to provide very powerful features in a very logical and straightforward manner. This versatile application is a must-try for anyone who is looking to set up their own syncing or backup solution. Let's just hope that more cloud storage destinations will be supported in future versions.
