Maxthon Cloud Browser review

Maxthon Cloud Browser's new Cloud-integrated features make it easy to share and sync files between Windows, Mac, and Android systems. Despite a new name, a total redesign, and many new features, Maxthon's free browser still uses Webkit and Trident cores to display all websites quickly and crisply.

Pros

Quick access: A familiar but updated look adds new features like Website Mosaic for displaying multiple windows and the Maxthon Dock, a sidebar (with cool effects) that pins to the desktop.

Eye-friendly: Reader Mode adjusts font sizes and blocks ads for easier reading, while Night Mode automatically adjusts screen brightness for low-light conditions.

My Cloud: Cloud services include Cloud Download, which can upload and back up files to My Cloud; Cloud Push, which bridges Windows, Mac, and Android systems; social Cloud Share; and My Cloud Tabs, which syncs open browser tabs between devices.

Extras: Magic Fill, SkyNote, and Ad Hunter make browsing more convenient. New Session lets gamers log in to the same website simultaneously using different accounts. Source Sniffer grabs a site's media files with one click.

Cons

Dock bug: Pinning the Maxthon Dock to the desktop changed its options menu from English to Chinese characters, and it took some guesswork to change it back. Despite the glitch, we still like the feature.

Bottom Line

Maxthon Cloud Browser distinguishes itself as a true alternative with a major new release that not only offers up-to-date syncing and sharing features but also some unique and intriguing extras.
