Mayor meets with feds over claim against Christie
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The mayor of Hoboken says she met with federal prosecutors after claiming representatives of Gov. Chris Christie said her city would only get Superstorm Sandy recovery funds if she expedited a development project.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer released a statement saying she met with the U.S. attorney for New Jersey for hours Sunday and turned over a journal and other documents.
Zimmer says two members of Christie's team told her the storm-damaged city would only get recovery money if she approved a development project. A Christie spokesman says that's "categorically false."
Democratic New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski (wiz-NOO'-skee) says he will expand an existing investigation into Zimmer's allegations. He's already investigating traffic jams at the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, N.J., allegedly orchestrated by Christie aides as political payback.
