    McKayla Maroney Is Only 'Kinda' Impressed With Meme

    American gymnast McKayla Maroney will leave the London 2012 Games with a gold medal, a silver medal and the unofficial title of most meme’d Olympian.

    The Internet did a two and a half twist over an image of Maroney standing on the medal stand seemingly pouting over her silver medal finish on vault. The repurposing of the expressive pic spawned the sizzlingly viral Tumblr McKayla Is Not Impressed. The site caught the attention of Maroney who tweeted a good-natured, albeit slightly lukewarm, response to the meme.

    The man behind the Tumblr site, 28-year-old New Yorker Gavin Alaoen, registered the page Tuesday night and posted three Photoshopped images of unimpressed McKayla at other Olympic events. The meme then took on a life of its own and the pint size 16-year-old vaulter’s scowling face began appearing at double rainbow spottings, on Mars and every place in between.
