No special effects were needed at the weekend wedding of McKenzie Westmore and Patrick Tatopoulos.

The couple — who made a love connection when he was a judge on SyFy’s Face Off, which she hosts — were married under blue skies at Chateau Le Dome at Saddlerock Ranch Winery in Malibu, California, on Sunday. The bride, 38, wore a V-neck gown with cut-out designs on the side and carried a bouquet of purple and white flowers. The groom, a French-Greek production designer, looked sharp in gray.

The venue only accommodates 100 guests, so it was an intimate reception. Tables were set up outside and decorated with an array of flowers, including sunflowers. There was a three-tier, white boxy cake as well as cupcakes with decorative sunflowers on them.

It’s hard to steal the spotlight from the bride — who got her start on the soap opera Passions (that’s right, Shuis fans!) — on her big day, but a long-necked resident of the ranch did just that. As the bride and groom posed for photos by some of the animals, a giraffe joined in on the fun by nibbling on Westmore’s bouquet.

The playful animal also rested its chin atop the Tatopoulos’s head, making for some memorable wedding photos.

This was Westmore’s second trip down the aisle. She has a son, Maddox, 9, from her first marriage.

Westmore met Tatopoulos on the set of Face Off, a competition series for special effects make-up artists, in 2011. He appeared as a judge the first two seasons, leaving to focus on his day job as a production designer on films including Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, he comes back each season as a guest judge. The couple announced their engagement in 2014.
