McKesson awarded $2.61 billion contract to supply pharmaceuticals to defense agencies

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Defense Department said Monday that it awarded a contract worth up to $2.61 billion to McKesson Corp. for delivery of mail order pharmaceutical products.

The San Francisco-based company was awarded the contract, which runs through mid-June 2015, from the Defense Logistics Agency. It will serve the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and individuals authorized to receive medical treatment through military services.

Shares of McKesson closed up 38 cents at $98.63.
