McKinnon making good progress from spinal injury

SYDNEY (AP) — Newcastle Knights rugby league player Alex McKinnon says it's only "a matter of time" before he regains movement in his legs after a serious spinal injury.

McKinnon said in a video posted on the National Rugby League team's website on Friday that were positive signs in his recovery from the injury he suffered during Newcastle's loss to Melbourne on March 24.

After being taken from the field following a tackle, the 22-year-old McKinnon was placed in an induced coma after undergoing surgery to fuse two fractured vertebrae and to have a disc removed.

McKinnon says there are a "lot of positive signs, I've come a long way in four weeks. Physio is pretty much getting my legs and my arms moving."
