Meet Poppy Pour-Over, the iPhone-connected coffee maker I need right now

Hi, my name is Chris and I might have a problem. I think I drink too much coffee, not in order to stay awake – in fact, I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t have that effect on me – but just because I like it. So naturally, when I saw the Poppy Pour-Over iPhone-connected coffee maker concept the other day, I immediately wanted one.

Too bad it’s not available to purchase just yet.

The Poppy Pour-Over from Quirky can be controlled from an iPhone app, which lets you not only customize your next cup of coffee, but also automatically order more coffee when it detects you’re running out of beans. That’s right, unlike other coffee machines, the Pour-Over comes with its own grinder that will grind coffee right when you want a fresh pot.

Interestingly, the app lets you adjust several variables, including water temperature, grind size and brew time. As a result, you can customize your own coffee recipes and share them with other members of the community.

Other Pour-Over perks include a hopper that holds 1.25 pounds of coffee, a water reservoir that holds enough for four servings, a built-in charcoal water filter and a double-walled glass carafe. Finally, the Pour-Over works with regular paper coffee filters.

Unfortunately, pricing details for the Poppy Pour-Over aren’t available at this time, but the coffee machine should be released in late 2015.
