Dotan Saguy had a problem: He couldn't get his iPad to stand up at just the angle he wanted. The solution: A new product called Smarter Stand that makes your Smart Cover even smarter.

"The Smart Cover is one of the best accessories for iPad, but it's too limiting as an iPad stand: either its so reclined you can't see the screen or it's so upright that I have to back-up," Saguy says on his Kickstarter page for the product. "What you really want is the iPad facing you directly, but the Smart Cover doesn't do that...until now!"
Smarter Stand is essentially two clips that attach to either side of the Smart Cover. The clips also works with the Smart Case Apple quietly announced last week. In the case of the Smart Cover, the product also has a polyurethane pad that sticks to the back side of the iPad to prevent the iPad from slipping. The pad is not necessary for the Smart Cover, since the cover provides some traction on that front.

To use the Smarter Stand, you slide the clips over the folds in the Smart Cover, preventing the cover from folding and giving you a whole new viewing angle for the device. For instance, slide one clip over the first fold and you get a 33-degree stand position. Slide the other clip over the second fold as well and you get 45-degree stand position.
Positioning the clips in different ways offers different viewing angles.
The Smarter Stand is currently listed on KickStarter and has reached more than twice its funding goal of $10k. Pledging $14 or more to the project will get you a SmarterStand in a color to match your Smart Cover or Case once the project goes into production.
