Memorial Day is right around the corner, and several Metro Detroit fireworks establishments hope to make it an even more memorable Memorial Day for 2012. Thanks to a law passed last December, Michigan residents can purchase more powerful explosives for their holiday celebrations, says WWJ. No more will Michigan residents have to go across the border to get the contraband fireworks. No longer are Michiganders limited to smaller, ground-based fireworks. Now, residents over 18 can buy Roman candles, firecrackers, bottle rockets, and other bigger airborne fireworks right in Michigan. Here's a list of fireworks dealers in Detroit that handle the larger fireworks.
- Big Fireworks (operated under the Black Diamond LLC - Vandyke Road between 16 1/2 Mile Road and 17 Mile in Sterling Heights, Mich.): This vendor is one of the first to offer the bigger pyrotechnics, says Click on Detroit. The store opened on May 14. Several more Big Fireworks stores are set open in Michigan, says MLive. Along with Sterling Heights and a Lansing outlet, venues in Grayling and Waterford are opening. West Michigan has two Big Fireworks stores, one at 4255 Alpine Ave. NW in front of the Art Van Furniture. A second larger store opened recently in Kentwood at 2751 28th St. SE near the Woodland Mall.
