Memory Clean review

Memory Clean for Mac is a small utility program that will keep you updated on how much free memory you have to work with and reclaim more for you. It's especially effective after you close a memory-intensive program, but it can help at any time to keep your computer running smoothly.

Pros

Nice interface: When this program is running, you can glance up at any time to see how much free memory you have available. To view more details, such as which types of programs are using the most memory at the moment, you only need to click on the top Toolbar icon to bring up the main window. Here you'll find a color-coded display, describing how much of your memory is being used in each of the categories, which include App Memory, File Cache, Wired, and Compressed. Clicking the Clean Memory button at the bottom of that window initiates a quick sweep to get back anything available and increase the overall total memory you have available to use.

Quick cleanings: The cleanings themselves take almost no time at all. This makes it possible to run them often without worry that you'll be delaying your work. And you can always see what kind of progress the app is making in cleaning, thanks to the progress bar and percentage readout.

Cons

No specifics: While having the data on what types of programs are using the most memory at any given point is nice, it would be more convenient to see exactly which programs are the greatest memory hogs. That's not an option, however, as no detailed view of individual categories exists in the program.

Multiple runs: It can sometimes take multiple cleaning cycles to get all possible memory back with this tool. Fortunately, the scans take very little time, but it would be nice to just run it once and be done with it.

Bottom Line

Memory Clean for Mac is a handy free utility to have around, and by maximizing your available memory, it can help your machine run more smoothly. All of its features are clearly accessible through the intuitive interface, and its speediness is a big plus as well.
