Metallica added to Voodoo music festival lineup in place of Green Day

NEW ORLEANS - The rock band Metallica has been added to the lineup for this month's Voodoo Music + Arts Experience.

Metallica is set to perform on Saturday, Oct. 27, filling the slot previously held by Green Day, which cancelled its Voodoo performance earlier this week.

This will be Metallica's first time performing at the festival, which is scheduled for Oct. 26-28 at New Orleans City Park. It's been several years since the band has performed in New Orleans.

Other Voodoo headliners include Neil Young, the Avett Brothers, Justice, Skrillex, Nas and Jack White. The lineup also offers a sampling of Louisiana talent with George Porter Jr., the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Little Freddie King and others.

Voodoo in its 14th year and for the first time this year is offering tent-camping for concert-goers.
