Mexico activist in Juarez women killings wounded

MEXICO CITY (AP) — An activist representing relatives of women slain or missing in the border city of Ciudad Juarez has been attacked for the second time in two months.

Mexico City prosecutors say Norma Andrade was walking her granddaugther to school Friday morning when a man carrying a knife attacked her.

The city Attorney General's Office issued a statement saying she was treated hospital for a cut on her face, and it says she did not know the reason for the attack.

Andrade had come to Mexico City for safety after being shot twice outside her Ciudad Juarez home in December.

Andrade founded an organization of relatives of women who have gone missing or been murdered in Ciudad Juarez. Her 17-year-old daughter was tortured, raped and killed in 2001.

Unless this #$%$ violence stops Mexico is going to fall into a police state. I can tell you the reality of being a local police person in Mexico. You are terrified everyday when you go to work. Not just for yourself but for your family. You arrest a drug dealer and the chances are the judge will be bribed and the drug dealer is coming after you and your family. All this for $500.00 per month? More and more of Mexico is being taken over by the narcos. I will say this and maybe Mexicans will not like it. Within 5 years if things only get worse, there will be U.S. Marines in Mexico. The civilians have no guns and it is almost impossible to get a permit for any type of weapon. PLEASE all of you in the U.S. stop buying the #$%$ drugs. That is the only chance Mexicans and Mexico has a chance.

Harry, Tell it like it is, would see the problems as they are and stop hating the avarage Mexican down here. Good post.

If Mexico would stand up and make the cartels stop selling drugs, we wouldn't buy. It is Mexicos fault not the USA. Get it right and do something about your country. That is the only chance you have.

If Mexico wasnt supplying the drugs someone else will. My best bet is let the drugs go thru and let the US handle the problem since they have double agenda when it comes to "fighting together" this War. And the people south of the border are having the biggest share of the bloodshed

It is really outside of enough when a woman walking her granddaughter to school is attacked on the street by an idiot man. It would be different if this woman were a horrible parent, or some other threat to mankind, but she isn't. She has lost a child to animals masquerading as human beings, and she is not safe on the streets. Her daughter wasn't safe on the streets. Her granddaughter isn't safe, either, as the knife waving attacker didn't care that she was there of if she witnessed her grandmother's murder. It is time that the Mexican law enforcement people stand up and take charge, and I don't mean in order to get their share of the drug money being tossed around in Mexico. It used to be a beautiful country filled with lovely people, artisans, fast paced cities, artists and people with dreams. Now, it is a cesspool of drug lords who have no interest in anyone other than themselves having a good life. The drug lords and their subordinates walk and talk death and persecution. They have a wonderful people on their knees. Where is Mexican pride? Instead of wishing to reclaim California (ain't gonna happen, folks), take back your country. Your children are dying!! Get busy and reclaim Mexico!!

You come on down and fight with your bare hands ugainst guns, the people can do nothing, but If you read more you would see the Mexican government is cracking down heavy and the Marines are picking up top cartel bosse but it is slow and hard. The cartel has more money and weapons then the government thanks to Holder and the U.S. drug users. Someone tell Holder to butt out.

I am so tire of the United Nations not doing anything about this. Innocent people are dying and in constant terror every F...ng day. All politics aside. I don't care if the criminals are killing each other. But children, innocent women and men are also becoming victims of this ruthless violence, it is genocide and no one is doing anything about this matter. Instead, the UN and and NATO is focusing on starting conflicts for their own self interest. It's a d..m shame. The UN has failed since it's inception in all it's aspects.
      • Hawk 3 mths ago
What does Mexico have that the United Nations wants or needs? Absolutly nothing.
      • Kenneth 3 mths ago
Hawk, I see you have never been here in Mexico, they have oil and many minerals down here. I saw you claim Native American ancestory, how far back and how many nationalities that cut down the blood line is there. I am also Cherokee and Irish and an American citizen living in Mexico, not that is matters. If you post racist hate you become a bad as the ones you are angry with, Hate begets hate. I wish the ones that post without facts would come on down and learn something.

Maybe if the Mexican and US Governments were not in bed with the cartels #$%$ like this wouldn't happen.
      • Kenneth 3 mths ago
Read your papers more. The Mexican president and the Marines and now the Juarez Police are doing a good job at cleaning up the mess, they have taken several of the cartel and their bosses but it takes time. Obama and Holder is not helping anything down here but the cartel. It would be nice if you would get a few facts before you post.

It is so easy for the media to distract people by pointing fingers out on others countries crime while our own country is falling apart by domestic corruption and crimes. The fact is that half of the daily domestic crimes are not reported by the media.

If Mexico would stand up and make the cartels stop selling drugs, we wouldn't buy. It is Mexicos fault not the USA. Get it right and do something about your country. That is the only chance you have. Mexicans sure want to blame everyone else for there problems. The 16 million illegals here need to leave. Hey, start an army and take your country back because I and millions of other legal US citizens will not welcome you here if you enter Illegally.

No one in there right mind should go to mexico especially if you are white or dark looking. If not mexican your chanches of getting killed are high. And now we are letting all the cartel come over here. Bring our troops hame and let them take care of theis thing. I bet if you put all our troops on the border they wouls all be in ear shot of one another. This should solve the problem.

Leave it to Yahoo "news" to recycle a story from two months ago, In order to keep the hatred alive and well...I guess they figure this will hold the racists over until something more juicy comes along regarding Mexico.

(Read all this with an open mind before you post a reply) Most of you armchair commandos write your ideas on how to fix a very big problem, and some of you, not all are Racists and/or cowards, hide behind a keyboard and writing hate, and whether you like it or not, you are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution, if a part of the problem, please sit down, shut up and stay out of the way. If not, get out of your comfort zone and do something to help, in America, Mexico or where ever you are. Now before you ask the questions I am always asked, I will try to answer them the best I can.
      1. Then what I am doing about anything to help, I am an American citizen on social security and helping the churches in Mexico to for an example, feeding needy families, and other Churches do give alcohol and drug rehab, what I do may not much, but I do what ever I can. I am a 70 year old widower, but I still want to help make a difference.
I burned my car up traveling up and down Mexico taking pastors where they needed to go, but will not stop because of a little set back. I work a little slower, as I have to take buses to where they need and want me. Oh yes I know, you say only a fool would live in Mexico but I love the people here, they are truly genuine and am too old to worry about someone who might want to killing me down here.
      2. Am I for gun control because of the killing down here by the cartel? No I am not for gun-control; I am a Life Time NRA Member and know from experience that gun control does not work. Yes they have strict gun control laws in Mexico but that is their business, I am not here to meddle in their politics and do not want to either.
To the ones that do not understand my point here sorry, maybe if you read this enough times you will understand. The only thing that really matters, being a Christians or not, is if this stirs some of you into action and helping others, in the community you live in or anywhere, or if for some reason you can not do it yourself, find some place and donate something, just stay involved please. If some of you do this, I have accomplished what I wanted to do. - - - Hate from both sides does not help anyone, just lack of proper home training and education.
If you want to ask any other questions, ask away, but if you are some of the few that want to write hate towards me and other people still, do not bother, it is very childish and I will not answer, it means nothing to anyone anyway.

Mexicans...a black mark on humanity. From the sacrifices that slaughtered thousands in a day by Inca priests to the multiple be-headings from cartels today. Life is cheap for men, women or children in Mexico. They Latino gangs are stealing, raping and murdering throughout the USA today also thanks to pandering, corrupt politicians resulting in non enforcement of this country laws against ILLEGAL immigration. A pitiful disgrace!
    • DIREINDEED  •  3 mths ago
If the Mexican government really wanted to do something about these crimes and the drug cartel gangs they would have stopped this a long time ago. Truth is, the Mexican government, police and justice system IS the drug cartels. They're making a lot of money off this nonsense and that is why they do nothing about it. They don't care, so the murdering just keeps on happening.
