The good Congress Lady that got shot would not have been shot if the local sheriff did his job. The sheriff's office had contact with the shooter 30 times after the shooter making threats against various people. It seems the shooter's family was politically connected so the sheriff failed in his duty to protect the community from known threats.

The problem here in America is that criminals and nut cases who use guns to commit crimes know that there is a plethora of lawyers out there to plead "extenduating circumstances" and they get off with light sentences. In Europe if you use a gun in commission of a crime....they lock you up and throw away the key.

Laws are on the books; ENFORCE THEM. Leave us good people alone.

My brother was stabbed and killed with a knife, yet I am not harping about knife control. I have also lost a couple close friends to criminal shootings and I am not calling for more control laws. I wish Mayor Michael Bloomberg would have come with me when I had to tell the family of soldiers in combat, that their kids are not coming home. Then maybe he would start complaining about all the wars we are in.

So we pass another law for some criminal to break, get himself another illegal gun, and shoot someone else? Or enforce the laws we already have? Laws don't stop thieves from stealing guns and guns don't shoot themselves.
Statistics say that I probably will not be able to protect myself from criminals even if I have a gun, but I want that chance, because I know I won't have a chance without one.
And when is the last time that Bloomberg went anywhere without armed protection within shouting distance any way.Oh that I could afford a bodyguard.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg enjoys the protection of armed security 24/7. When he takes their guns away, we can open a dialogue about mine.

What Bloomberg thinks does not change the constitution. Obviously this man has no f\regard for those rights he does not feel fits his struggle for more complete control as a politician.

Bloomberg says the problem is illegal guns. Then the solution is to enforce the laws we already have. Not to make it harder for honest people to get guns legally.

Of course he'll say that. The founding fathers gave citizens the right to arm themselves in case government officials like him become too tyranical.

After the killing of TWO US Presidents - I dont think that the Congress woman holds much ground on this issue. ( I wish her well - Its NOT fun being shot - I know first hand )
I AM for gun rights ( I carry EVERY DAY ) BUT we have to keep them out of the wrong hands !

If we had more uniform laws in all the states and then just enforced those laws - we would not need to restrict guns. In virtually all high profile gun violence incidents - the shooters fit various categories of people that should not have had the guns to begin with.

It is not much different than the illegal immigration problems - there are laws to handle these issues - all that is needed is to enforce the existing laws. When a person with mental, legal or other problems that disqualify them from obtaining or buying a gun or ammo - why ere they not put on the existing data bases so they could not get the guns.

Hold those responsible for reporting & checking the data bases to do their jobs.

Bloomberg caters only to his eliteist friends, ask him why Donald Trump has a N.Y.C. carry permit along with a great many other high rollers and celebrity friends of his. This is the same old #$%$ take away from the common people but give to the eliteists.

When Bloomberg bans guns, I'll just buy mine from Eric Holder.

What a self-serving, pompous #$%$ We have laws on the books against selling firearms to the insane and people with mental disorders. The shooter in AZ was so crazy he scared people for years, yet nothing was done. So let's declare the Bill or Rights null and void because a crazy person might do something bad. We'll need to update the national anthem to remove "Land of the free", but don't worry. Your government will take care of you, not trouble you with having to decide anything for yourself. Remember, Big Brother is watching
