Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters Ink Pod Deal With ABC Studios

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have signed a two-year pod deal with ABC Studios, Variety has learned.

Under the pact, the “Marvel’s Agent Carter” and “Resurrection” showrunner-exec producers will be searching for both hourlong and 30-minute projects to develop under their Fazekas & Butters banner. They’ll also be bringing in a development executive.

“We’ve never done half-hour,” Butters recently told Variety. Fazekas added, “I would love to fully lean into the comedy thing.”

The duo inked an overall deal with ABC Studios in February 2013.

Fazekas recently told Variety, “We’ve had a nice experience at both ABC Studios and ABC network, where you don’t feel like someone is saying, ‘Do this note because I am saying so.’ I feel like the smartest execs, you can say, ‘Here’s why we’re not doing it,’ and they’ll say, ‘Oh, OK, I get it,’ and they’ll drop the note.”

Fazekas and Butters created CW’s cult hit “Reaper” and also served as writers and producers for five seasons on “Law & Order: SVU,” for which they received two Writers Guild nominations. They also worked on “Hawaii Five-O,” “Terra Nova” and “Dollhouse” and have developed pilots for CW, CBS and Fox.

Fazekas and Butters are repped by ICM Partners and Michael Gendler of Gendler & Kelly.
