Mickey Gall Plans to Finish CM Punk in First Round in WWE Star's First UFC Fight

CM Punk Granted Waiver to Fight at UFC 203, Clearing Ohio Law Hurdle

Twenty-four-year-old Mickey Gall cashed in his winning lottery ticket to be the first fighter to face former WWE champion CM Punk, aka Phil Brooks, by finishing Mike Jackson at UFC Fight Night 82.

The New Jersey native was discovered by UFC president Dana White while filming the UFC Fight Pass reality series Lookin’ for a Fight. Following a first-round submission win in his professional debut with White sitting cage side, Gall called out CM Punk.

Gall was offered a UFC contract with a record of 1-0 and told that if he won his promotional debut he would face the 37 year old Brooks in his next outing. He cleared that hurdle in 45 seconds, forcing Jackson to tap out to a rear-naked choke.

Gall looks forward to facing such a high-profile opponent and plans to seize the opportunity to defeat a superstar.

“I’m extremely excited to fight him. I’m just going to force my game on him,” he said during the UFC Fight Night 82 post-fight press conference. “I’m not really too concerned with what he’s going to do. I’m going to force my game on him.”

During the event’s post show on FOX Sports 1, Gall predicted that he’d finish CM Punk in the first round when they eventually meet inside the octagon.

“I’m excited to fight a superstar. I’m going to beat up a superstar. I’m excited for that,” he said. “It’ll be a first-round finish.”
