Microsoft brings classic Solitaire and other games to iOS and Android

Back in the day, well before you could waste hours online browsing around the web, Microsoft’s built-in Solitaire app on Windows was a game that was often in heavy rotation. If you remember those pre-Internet days fondly, or with absolute horror, you can relive it all with a new iOS and Android app from Microsoft that brings Solitaire and a number of other nostalgic-fueled games to your mobile device.

Appropriately called the Microsoft Solitaire Collection, the new app is free to download and comes with five games that may come in handy as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday.

Major Nelson adds:

Microsoft Solitaire Collection offers five of the best Solitaire card games – Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and Tripeaks – all in one app. The game also includes Daily Challenges, where you can play guaranteed solvable challenges every day in all five game modes with multiple levels of difficulty, while earning cool awards.

Plus, with Xbox Live integration, you can sign in with your Xbox Live gamertag or Microsoft account to earn Xbox Live achievements and Gamerscore, compete with friends, and continue playing on any Windows 10, iPhone, iPad, or Android device while on the go since your progress and game data are saved in the cloud.

The included list of games reads as follows:

KLONDIKE Timeless & Classic Solitaire. Clear all the cards from the table using one or three-card draw. Also try out Traditional or Vegas scoring!

SPIDER Eight columns of cards await you. Clear them all with fewest moves possible. Play single suit or challenge yourself with four suits!

FREECELL Be strategic and use the four extra cells to move cards around and try to clear all cards from the table. FreeCell rewards players who think several moves ahead.

TRIPEAKS Select cards in a sequence, earn combo points, and clear as many boards as you can before you run out of deals!

PYRAMID Combine two cards that add up to 13 to remove them from the board. Challenge yourself to reach the top of the Pyramid and clear as many boards as you can!

You can relive the 90s by downloading the app here for iOS and over here if you’re on Android.
