Microsoft reportedly testing ‘translucent aluminum’ Surface Watch

The smartwatch race is on. The Verge reports that Microsoft has moved production of its own smartwatch from its Xbox division to its Surface division and is now testing out a prototype for watch that’s made with “an expensive ‘translucent aluminum’ that is said to be three times harder than glass.” The Verge also says that “Microsoft is testing prototypes with a modified version of Windows 8, with a focus on integrating the device with other Windows-powered devices.” With Microsoft, Apple, Samsung and Google all working on wrist-mounted computers of some type, it looks as though 2014 is shaping up to be the year of the smartwatch and it will be interesting to see which tech company will be the first to market with its device.
