Miley Cyrus was the subject of a hoax when police descended on her Los Angeles area home on Wednesday night after receiving a call that someone has been shot and kidnapped.
"We responded to a call of a kidnapping in progress, one person shot, at an address on Amanda Drive," a North Hollywood Police Department spokesperson told "Good Morning America."
Police descended on the star's residence with guns drawn, but determined it was a false alarm and no one was home.
Authorities said the incident could be another "Swatting" prank, where a fake call is made in order to get the police (or a SWAT team) to bust down someone's door.
"It's not just bad, it is a crime," a police officer told "GMA". "And if we find out who it is, we will arrest them and prosecute them."
Early Thursday morning, Miley Tweeted, "i don't sleep".
