Miley Cyrus Shows Off Engagement Ring

Miley Cyrus is showing off her new bling!

The newly engaged 19-year-old was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, sporting her engagement ring from fiance Liam Hemsworth.

"The Hunger Games" star gave the "Can't Be Tamed" singer a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring. The center stone dates back to the late 19th century.

"It's designed around the center stone, which is a 19th century old European cut, or a cushion cut. Over 3.5 karats, I used the stone to give me inspiration to design the work around it," celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who designed the ring, told Access Hollywood on Wednesday. "It's really very, very beautiful. It takes a long time to do it. It's all handmade."

The stone is set in 18-karat gold, carved with diamond floral motifs.

"It has tiny little diamond work around the gold work. It's an art nouveau feeling," he explained. "Very floral, flowery, very feminine. It's a very romantic ring."

Neil said Liam had a tall order when it came to creating Miley's ring.

"Every guy wants to get the most beautiful ring for his girl," he told Access. "I think it was the same with Liam. He was looking for the most romantic, most beautiful ring that he could find for Miley and hopefully we did the right job."

According to HollywoodLife.com, the ring is estimated to have cost Liam approximately $100,000.

    • Yes, Oklahoma Truthers Think Obama Used His Anti-Scandal Weather Magic

On Sunday, six days after a furious and deadly tornado, President Obama will reportedly head to Moore, Oklahoma. It took less than 48 hours for the truthers to furiously accuse the White House — perhaps by way of George Soros — of creating the tornado itself. If you thought 9/11 conspiracy theorists were bad, or the Sandy Hook and Boston bombing truthers were reckless, Obama's meteorological manipulation — all to distract a country from three Washington scandals — well, that might be a new level of ridiculous.

And in the flurry of last night's devastation in Moore, Oklahoma. it was impossible not to forget that fact, knowing the federal government would soon rally to the cause.

    • Teens Are Turning Away from Facebook Because Tumblr Is Real, and Parent-Free

Teenagers really are over Facebook. In February the social network warned investors that "our younger users ... are aware of and actively engaging with other products and services similar to, or as a substitute for, Facebook." And in April the investment bank Piper Jaffray reported that products and services like Tumblr and Twitter were further eroding Facebook's dominance among the Justin Bieber set. But why? In a deep report published on Tuesday, Pew Research explains that teenagers departing the social network's blue confines are looking for something more... real. ...
