Miley's Bangerz with the lot

Miley Cyrus lived up to her title as the most provocative pop star in recent years when she brought her latest touring extravaganza to Perth Arena last night.

Kicking off the final date of her Bangerz world tour by sliding down a giant tongue, fans were transported to an alternate reality for 100 expletive filled minutes of crotch grabbing, booty shaking and dancing animals.

Wearing a high cut leotard and feathers which channelled a wayward chicken, the 21-year-old screamed "Perth, you are the last stop on our tour so I want to hear some mother f...ing noise" to an ecstatic reply from her enraptured, predominantly teenage female fans.

After her headline making twerking at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, Cyrus went bigger and more shocking with her stage show incorporating risque antics and props such as prosthetic body parts, a staged orgy and a giant phallic hot dog.

Parents of younger fans who grew up watching the child star daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus as Hannah Montana might have been cautious with their ticket buying with the crowd smaller than the her last Perth show in July 2011 when 15,601 packed into a sold out Burswood Dome.

Tickets to Cyrus' Perth show were also discounted this week, with some top tickets almost a third of their original cost to fill seats.

But those there were treated to a bizarre, albeit entertaining, spectacle, despite an at times horrible sound mix, which blew her last tour out of the water for both performance and creativity.

Cyrus gave a heartfelt speech thanking her crew and dancers for support on the longest tour of her career, which she also credited to saving her life during such an intense year personally and professionally.

"The best way I could deal with life was stay on this tour, which I did," she said.

"I feel very f...ing accomplished after finishing this tour.

"A lot of s... has happened to me personally this year."

Her latest album, the urban pop rock Bangerz dominated the set list, including smash hits Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop, with most of her previous bubblegum back catalogue omitted.

Unlike many other performers at her level of celebrity, Cyrus seemed to enjoy interacting with her fans.

Engaging with those in the general admission area who were "jammed in there like s...", at one point Cyrus playfully walked across the stage spitting water on them - much to their delight.

Cyrus also encouraged her fans to use their tongues and "make out" with someone they brought with them or just met.

As she crooned Adore You, fans from the crowd were shown on a big onstage screen indulging in some quite shocking, mainly girl-on-girl kissing.

Musically, she also proved, unlike many of her pop contemporaries, that she can sing and dance with her strong country-tinged voice particularly highlighted on an expressive cover of the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.
