Missing 7-year-old Columbus boy found safe after mother arrested by U.S. Marshals

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A woman with a violent past who went missing, along with her son, was arrested Thursday. Her son was found safe Friday morning.

Shadasia Gillayard, who is also accused of taking her 7-year-old son, Kingston Gillyard, had been missing for approximately six weeks after a warrant was issued for her arrest on April 1. She was taken into custody Thursday, but her son remained an endangered missing child, according to Columbus police.

At approximately 8 a.m. Friday, Columbus police confirmed that the boy was found safe.

Gillyard, who is not the legal guardian of her son, declined to provide Kingston’s location.

According to court documents Shadasia Gillyard is facing several charges, including aggravated menacing, criminal damaging felonious assault, bond revocation on a felonious assault, intimidating a witness and interference with custody. Gillyard reportedly sent multiple text messages to a man demanding he drop criminal charges against her or she would kill him.

Her current charges of two counts of felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm were scheduled to be addressed in municipal court Friday but her arraignment hearing has been postponed.

According to police, on May 2, Gillyard and Talonzo Reid allegedly shot at and damaged an apartment residence of a man Gillyard is in a custody battle with over Kingston Gillyard. Both were detained Thursday based on police interviews, shell casings found at the scene, and video surveillance evidence of a car owned by Talonzo.
