Mississauga church the target of repeat vandalism

A Roman Catholic church in Mississauga has been vandalized twice this week.

St. Catherine of Siena Church is reviewing its security tapes and police are investigating after graffiti was found on the church as well as at its affiliated school and a religious statue was spray painted black.

Police may investigate the vandalism as a hate crime.

Church staff have called in cleaners who are providing an estimate on Thursday, and will likely be cleaning the graffiti before the weekend.

The church says one graffiti incident was seen early Sunday morning, and the second was discovered early Wednesday morning.

"We have no idea why they keep targeting us," said church staff.
