Misty Copeland Makes Her Broadway Debut in 'On the Town'
There's no stopping Misty Copeland!
In June, it was revealed the ballerina had been named the American Ballet Theatre's first black principal dancer in the 75-year history of the company. The news came after she was named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People.

The ballerina is capping off a breakout year with her Broadway debut in the hit musical, On the Town. The dance-heavy show proved to be the perfect place for the 32-year-old performer to expand her repertoire.
She was all smiles on Tuesday, during her first performance as Ivy Smith, New York City's "Miss Turnstile" and the desire of sailor Gabey (Tony Yazbeck). The crowd was eager to see the dancer on stage, the New York Times reports, adding that "her Ivy was terrific."
Though, the paper did offer one critique: "Ms. Copeland's singing voice may be flat," but clearly the draw is her dancing. Following her debut performance, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts presented Copeland with flowers, and she received cheers from the crowd.

Sadly, Copeland's time on the Broadway stage is a limited one. The show is scheduled to close on Sept. 6. So fans of the dancer better act quick before she's back to performing at Lincoln Center.
