Mitt Romney wins Wyoming caucus vote

Mitt Romney has won Wyoming's presidential caucus vote, a series of county straw polls that took place over the last three weeks.

With 39 percent, Romney finished ahead of Rick Santorum (32 percent), Ron Paul (21 percent) and Newt Gingrich (8 percent). The Wyoming GOP released the final results Wednesday night.

Like Iowa's presidential caucus vote, Wyoming's is not binding and will in no way affect the state's 29 delegates.

Wyoming's caucuses, however, took place over the better part of a month: Counties were allowed to hold their precinct caucuses over a wide range of time, and the first county voted on Feb. 9. If Iowa's caucuses rendered a snapshot of public sentiment in that state, Wyoming has supplied a pinhole exposure.

More media attention will likely be paid to Wyoming's county conventions, held March 6-10, which will directly elect 12 delegates to the Republican National Convention, and to its April state convention, which will elect another 14 delegates. None of those delegates will be allocated (or "bound") to any presidential candidate, though each will have to announce support for a particular candidate or "undecided."

Only 2,108 total votes were cast in Wyoming's precinct caucuses - far fewer than were recorded in any state's GOP primary or caucus so far. Nevada, the next smallest event, saw more than 30,000 Republican votes.

Also like in Iowa, the precinct caucuses served another function, besides recording a presidential-preference vote: electing delegates to Wyoming's later conventions. If Romney's win tonight is any indication, he'll receive more backing than his competitors from Wyoming's unbound national delegates at the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla., this August.

Everything you Romney/Gingrich/Santorum supporters are saying:

"I distrust the federal government on everything else, but i see no reason to be skeptical of war propaganda."
"I dont trust the media...except when it tells me not to vote for Ron Paul."
"I am happy with the political establishment."
      "Spending levels are okay."
"I prefer flattery and conventional slogans."
"I prefer a candidate who had no idea a financial crisis was coming."
      "I'm not concerned about taxes."
"The federal reserve isn't a big deal."

yeah,...like voting for Ron Paul and he hardly gets over 5%...why waste your time..you must be stoned out of your mind

I think it's a waste of time to vote for anyone you don't believe in as a candidate.
      • Jack 2 mths ago
Not a waste of time when people vote in an honest way for the candidate they think would make the best leader. It is the politically correct vote for the party line that is a waste of time and hurts the system.

People say Ron Paul is an idealist. The same people keep putting the status quo back in office hoping for different results. Its these people who ARE the idealist. Ron Paul 2012

Sorry man but i cant vote Ron Paul you see i'm 18 year's old i just had my first son and i heard Ron Paul say he would cut the FDA. I don't know about you all. But i don't want some CEO puting something in my kids baby food so he can invest some money in a drug companie and my little boy have to take some drug because something they put in his baby food..I say this because my parent's have high blood pressure they take blood pressure med for it. And i see how heard it is to find food with low sodium. And food companie's invest money into drug companie's stock's. And then turn around and put high sodium in foods so you get high blood pressure. And need meds for it. So there stock they invest in does good.
Just think what it would be like with out the FDA regulations. I'm not saying the FDA is great. But it's batter to have them then not..
      • Tom 2 mths ago
Thats a good point except that I disagree Pipeline. I believe that the food and drug administration needs to lose some of its power and some of its titles. Like maybe they could be just the food administration? Also instead of allowing so much crap be allowed in our food how abouit taking all the crap out of our food? Also with the FDA minimalized the drug companies would not have all the lobbying money they have and wouldnt with hld drugs that cure cancer like they have been for years. check out a documentery on a doctor by the name of Staneslov Berjinsky. If you want to save lives then the food and drug administration needs to go bro. Just think if your son grows up then ends up with cancer god forbid. what then? that same administration you are saying made food safer is actually the reason cancer is out of controle in this country. I think you should do a little more research before you make that choice. I say Ron Paul is the perfect candidate to support and reinstate the constitution and the bill of rights back into our government. I also say send a message to congress after Ron Paul wins. Get ready congress because we the people are going to give you an over haul too.

Paul is a racist as well as a bigot and could never be the wannabe dictator he tries to be. Paul has no self control and is subject to, too many childish tantrums to be an effective leader.

The president cannot close all our bases on his own even though I agree we should not have military bases scattered all over the world. The president cannot end S.S. which Paul calls a ponzi scheme and cannot end Medicare either.

Paul will get s few write in votes like always and take votes away from the two major candidates.

Why does everything have to be liberals or Republicans cant we come together in this Country any more as AMERICANS? WE ARE blowing it with God people. Let’s say all Governments will fail and be Crushed by God as the Bible says and maybe we are actually in some revelations. Could we all be tested? There is no place for hatred and division in Gods plans. I believe people may be giving up a chance for eternal life or Heaven. If you get cancer and are a Godly person I do believe you WILL believe it is all real and may be shown. So where does that leave us people this division and hatred is getting us no where good.

So, whether they realize it or not, here are 26 things non-Paul supporters appear to be saying.

      (1) The American political establishment has done a super job keeping our country prosperous and our liberties protected, so I’m sure whatever candidate they push on me is probably a good one.

      (2) Our country is basically bankrupt. Unfunded entitlement liabilities are in excess of twice world GDP. Therefore, it’s a good idea to vote for someone who offers no specific spending cuts of any kind.

      (3) Vague promises to cut spending are good enough for me, even though they have always resulted in higher spending in the past.

      (4) I prefer a candidate who plays to the crowd, instead of having the courage to tell his audience things they may not want to hear.

      (5) I am deeply concerned about spending. Therefore, I would like to vote for someone who supported Medicare Part D, thereby adding $7 trillion to Medicare’s unfunded liabilities.

      (6) I am opposed to bailouts. Therefore, I will vote for a candidate who supported TARP.

      (7) The federal government is much too involved in education, where it has no constitutional role. Therefore, I will vote for a candidate who supported expanding the Department of Education and favored the No Child Left Behind Act.

      (8) Even though practically everyone was caught by surprise in the 2008 financial crisis, which we are still reeling from, it’s a good idea not to vote for the one man in politics who predicted exactly what was bound to unfold, all the way back in 2001.

      (9) I am not impressed by a candidate who inspires people, especially young ones, to read the great economists and political philosophers.

      (10) I am concerned about taxes. Therefore, I will not vote for the one candidate who has never supported a tax increase.

      (11) I believe it is conservative to support bringing the Enlightenment to Afghanistan via military intervention.

      (12) Even though I lost half my retirement portfolio when the economy crashed from the sugar high the Federal Reserve’s artificially low interest rates put it on, I would like to vote for someone who is not really interested in the Federal Reserve.

      (13) Even though 50 years of the embargo on Cuba did nothing to undermine Fidel Castro, and in fact handed him a perfect excuse for all the failures of socialism, I favor continuing this policy.

      (14) If someone has a drug problem, prison rape is the best solution I can think of.

      (15) Even though the Constitution had to be amended to allow for alcohol prohibition, and even though I claim to care about the Constitution, I don’t mind that there’s no constitutional authorization for the war on drugs, and I will punish at the polls anyone who favors the constitutional solution of returning the issue to the states.

      (16) I believe only a “liberal” would think it was inhumane to keep essential items out of Iraq in the 1990s, even though one of the first people to protest this policy was Pat Buchanan.

      (17) The Brookings Institution says Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Contract with America was an insignificant nibbling around the edges. I favor people who support insignificant nibbling around the edges, as long as they occasionally trick me with a nice speech.

      (18) I am deeply concerned about radical Islam, so it was a good idea to depose the secular Saddam Hussein — who was so despised by Islamists that Osama bin Laden himself offered to fight against him in the 1991 Persian Gulf War — and replace him with a Shiite regime friendly with Iran, while also bringing about a new Iraqi constitution that makes Islam the state religion and forbids any law that contradicts its teachings.

      (19) Indefinite detention for U.S. citizens seems like nothing to be worried about, especially since our political class is so trustworthy that it could never abuse such a power.

      (20) Following up on (19), I believe Thomas Jefferson was just being paranoid when he said, “In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down

Who is AGAINST Ron Paul, since the "Press" never seems to "mention" him, and when they do, it's to spread "mis-information"? Do you know who "owns" the "media"? So whose interests are these so-called "reporters" and "journalists" promoting? Ours? Or their "Money-Masters'"?

Take your pick, of who has something to "lose" (i.e. OUR tax dollars!):

      - Military Industrial Complex
      - Wall Street Bankstas
      - Crony Corporations
      - "Foreign" Interests (google "Institute For Research: Middle Eastern Policy")
      - Current Administration (google "Cass Sunstein Cognitive Infiltration" for "program" details)
      - Other candidates' campaigns

      Their methods? Simple:
      - Lies
      - Half-truths
      - Innuendo
      - Fear-Mongering
      - Insults

If the elections themselves are not "fixed" (and there's mounting EVIDENCE that "fixing" has been ongoing in these primaries & caucuses) - then we'll find out soon enough who really has support. I was around for the 2008 campaign, and there's nothing NEW in the "news" that wasn't "brought out" (and investigated, clarified and/or debunked) in that election process. Just "re-hashed" for "another serving".

Did the media tell you that Ron Paul will cut ONE TRILLION THE FIRST YEAR, AND BALANCE THE BUDGET BY YEAR THREE?... AND WITHOUT TOUCHING MEDICARE OR SOCIAL SECURITY? Well, no. They don't want you to know that.

Ron Paul - the only hope to Restore America to the CITIZENS - not those who put us in this "mess".
