    How Mobile, Social Will Win the 2012 Olympics [INFOGRAPHIC]

    Planning to augment your viewing of this summer's action with a trusty by your side for stat updates, Twitter chatter and other social interaction? Well, thank your lucky pixels -- consumer tablets weren't even a thing for the last Summer Olympics, in 2008.

Fans will be able to converse, debate and rave communally as never before because of mobile proliferation and the explosive growth of social media over the past four years.

    We recently took a look at how Facebook, Twitter and YouTube , and the findings were pretty incredible. celebrated breaking 100 million users at the end of summer, was still explaining the concept of @ replies to its users and had just launched its mobile site and pre-roll ads.

    The digital marketing agency recently looked at social growth too, but expanded the lens to include mobile, coverage and viewership numbers as well. Some of iProspect's social numbers are slightly different than the ones we highlighted -- but that's because just when in 2008 you grab data from delivers different results. Either way, the comparison offers a great snapshot of how much the media landscape has changed since the last Summer Olympics.
