MobilEdit Lite review

MobilEdit Lite lets you manage any type of mobile device, no matter what type of operating system it runs. This lets you avoid installing multiple apps to handle different devices, especially if various members of your household use different systems.

Pros

Versatility: The main advantage to using this software over a device-specific alternative is that you don't have to have multiple apps on your computer to handle different devices. This is a nice idea, and it can greatly ease how you handle your mobile device data.

Connection options: To connect your device to this app, you can use a physical connection like a USB cable. But you can also just connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Establishing a Wi-Fi connection is quick and easy, once you've installed the free mobile companion app.

Cons

Confusing installation: The program prompts you over and over to install driver software for the different types of devices you want to connect. Although it tells you that you may already have the appropriate drivers if you've been using another software to manage your mobile device, it still repeatedly prompts you to install drivers. If you do choose to install the entire driver package the app offers, you also need to be prepared to wait for a while, as this process is not a speedy one.

Connection limitations: Although the app tells you all about how you can conveniently connect in multiple ways, it doesn't tell you that if you use any option besides USB, you'll only have access to your Contacts. All other sections, like Messages, Media, Files, Calendar, and Notes are only viewable if your device is connected via USB.

Bottom Line

MobilEdit Lite introduces you to the functions of the full-featured paid app, and the trial limitations it comes with include the ability to read data but not write it, and the option to make up to five calls and download one file for each time you open the app. You can also make backups with the Lite version, but you can't restore from them without upgrading.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of MobilEdit Lite 7.7.
