Model Ashley Graham Struggled To Find An Oscars Dress In Her Size

When will designer brands learn that they need to make a variation of sizes to lend to stars for red carpet events? First Bryce Dallas Howard (who’s a size 10) struggled to find an ensemble to borrow for the Golden Globes in January and now Ashley Graham’s revealed that finding a suitable frock for the Oscars 2016 was an absolute ‘mare.
The model, who recently hit headlines after becoming the first size 16 star to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimwear issue, was at the Academy Awards last night to co-host the pre-show on E!, commenting on what each of the red carpet arrivals were wearing.
But what Graham herself was wearing spurred its own discussion.
“Trying to find a dress for the Oscars, a girl my size — these girls this size,” she said, referring to her cleavage, “I mean it has been a whole job in itself. So I am happy tonight with my outfit.”

And so she should be. The 28-year-old donned a very sexy red dress for the occasion, which definitely drew attention towards her enviable cleavage. And her fans appeared to be thrilled with it. “Ashley Graham’s dress on E! Let’s talk about that..,” one Twitter user wrote online.
The model also casually mentioned that she’s heading to Paris Fashion Week in a couple of days, which has left us wondering whether she’ll be sitting FROW at a show or two or perhaps walking in one of the big name presentations. The likes of Chanel, Balmain and Dior all show at PFW - perhaps they’ve booked Graham to model for them?
Graham’s landmark presenting moment occurred just hours after Edwina Currie called the model “obese”.

Talking on “BBC Breakfast”, the former Conservative health minister and MP said: “It seems to me that plus size models and extolling them and making it seem normal to be obese is just dangerous and unhealthy as the zero models, the very thin ones.”
Indicating a photo of Graham, Currie said: “I don’t know who that young lady is.
“Whether it’s attractive or not it’s unhealthy. And what you’re doing if you’re that sort of size, and I’m not as slim as I should be, is you’re heading for diabetes which is awful. You’re heading for hip problems and knee problems and all the other issues.“
