USDA crop report: Wet weather in North Dakota continuing to halt or slow planting
FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota's ongoing wet weather is continuing to halt or slow planting progress across the state.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its weekly crop report that there were 3 days suitable for fieldwork on average last week.
Spring wheat seeding is rated just 77 percent complete, trailing last year's 94 percent average. Seeding was completed by this time last year.
Spring wheat is 58 percent emerged, behind last year at 100 percent and the 85 percent average.
Durum wheat seeding is also behind at 78 percent complete. The crop is 55 percent emerged, behind last year at 99 percent and the average of 74 percent.
Pasture and range conditions are rated 1 percent very poor, 2 percent poor, 14 percent fair, 61 percent good and 22 percent excellent.
