      • ralf 4 mths ago
Please buy yourself an english dictionary and go some where else and practice

I have some Navy friends who are FURIOUS. There's plenty of places in this world where that offense warrants execution.
    • RACHELS  •  4 mths ago
He might have been on the ship til 11:30, but there were passengers on the ship til 6AM. He abandoned them, and people died.
      • JOATO JOATP 4 mths ago
What ever happened to Captain is last onboard or goes down with his ship?
      • Jose the AMERICAN 4 mths ago
There are still passengers on board who may be trapped below decks.

JOA, It is still the rule that the Capt. is the last to leave the ship after he has made sure all on board are safely off.
      • JustSayin 4 mths ago
The land was right there! Some 200 people just swam to shore. Coward!
    • Mike_88  •  4 mths ago
He made an unauthorized deviation which killed 11 people. When he said those rocks shouldn't have been there, he shouldn't have been there. Those rocks have been there forever.
      • OSO420 4 mths ago
Actually the earth is constantly changing but at least 10,000 years would be a good guess.
      • Jack 4 mths ago
True, but his subsequent action of truning and grounding the ship at the port also saved lives.
      • SANFORD 4 mths ago
@Jack.. He would not have had to "trun" the ship if he had stayed on course. You can not pour gas all over your neighbors house, light it on fire, wake up your neighbor and get them out of the burning house and then claim that you are a hero.

Regardless of what she says, the recording of the Coast Guard telling him to get back on his ship, pretty much tells all we need to know.
      • Sky Clipper 4 mths ago
I think you need to know more - it was fine for the Capt. to coordiante from 'off-board'.
      • yourallcrzy 4 mths ago
Fire... I was under the impression that is the Captains job to be the last one off, passengers come first. I also remember him being told where to go to get back on the ship.
      • yourallcrzy 4 mths ago
Of course that woman defended the guy she was screwing...
    • Sean  •  4 mths ago
Honestly, I'm beginning to think Gilligan and the Skipper would have handled this better.
      • Erin 4 mths ago
The professor would have made sure they didn't hit the rocks.
      • this crazy life of ours 4 mths ago
Better yet, I think Marianne and Ginger would have done a finer job, IN HEELS, as for this ridiculous "captain," the title fits him too loose!
      • Go 49ers 4 mths ago
The Professor and Marianne would've handles it better!!

Edward John Smith, captain of the Titanic, stayed on board until everyone that could get off did, and made no attempt to save himself when the ship went down. He was a man. This little girlie man, while trying to impress his little girfriend, willfully steered his ship into dangerous water and sunk her. Then he tried to cover it up by lying about the ship's situation, he didn't try to evacuate his charges, he jumped/tripped/slipped/climbed into a life boat, he refused the coast guards order to return to the deck and help affect rescues, and then he hid like a little scared child while people that he was supposed to protect died. #$%$
    • Dooglas  •  4 mths ago
To be honest, i think her defending him just made things ten times worse

I would love to know WHEN and HOW Dominica Cermotan, the 25-year-old Moldovan hostess, escaped the stricken ship. Did she accidently stumble into the same Life Boat with the scrambling COWARD?
    • Sam  •  Parkersburg, West Virginia  •  4 mths ago
What was the time stamp of the coast guard captain screaming at schittano to get back on board?
    • KBo  •  St Louis, Missouri  •  4 mths ago
Causing the accident then saving 3,000 lives isn't a great thing. He could have saved 4,200 lives by not being a d bag
    • Jack Daniels  •  4 mths ago
He isn't going to be making that cash anymore lady.
    • TM  •  4 mths ago
He stayed on deck until 11:50 pm, what a champ. I thought a captain stayed on the ship until every last passenger was off. Everyone knows the captain of the Titanic went down with the ship. I guess they don't make captains like they used to.
    • babylonandon  •  West Allis, Wisconsin  •  4 mths ago
So now we know who ... er I mean what "Chicken of the Sea" was running into prior to his ship running aground.
    • Won  •  Washington, District of Columbia  •  4 mths ago
She defended Schettino, saying "he did a great thing, he saved over 3,000 lives," and added he stayed on deck until 11:50 p.m. The issue is that the Captain should have stayed on much longer to ensure all were evacuated, safe and accounted for before leaving the ship. 3,000 lives? There were more than 4,200 lives on board.
    • Scott  •  Des Moines, Iowa  •  4 mths ago
You guys need to give the good captain a break. Don't you understand that he slipped and fell into a lifeboat containing both the first and second mate?
    • Risteard  •  Orlando, Florida  •  4 mths ago
No one can condone his refusal to get back on the ship.
    • Michael  •  Valencia, California  •  4 mths ago
"Women who ate with Captain defends his actions"? Sure... no bias there. Kind of like his wife coming to defend him. Wonder if both his "women friend" on the boat and the wife have met?
    • Logger  •  Mt Hamilton, California  •  4 mths ago
Did she see the captain "fall" into the life boat? She's such a bird brain she thinks this captain "saved" 3,000 people when in fact he almost killed 3,000 people.
    • Z  •  Austin, Texas  •  4 mths ago
Excellent, some female hostess is supposed to exonerate the captain of any wrongdoing as if she has any idea what he was supposed to be doing in an emergency. He didnt save the lives of 3000 people, rather, he killed dozens and endangered the lives of thousands more. Stupid woman needs to keep her hole shut.
    • No Name  •  Lavaca, Arkansas  •  4 mths ago
No matter how many lives he saved, he's responsible for what happened and the lives that were lost. He is no hero and should have been the last person off the ship. The officer who ordered the coward back to his ship is the real hero!
