Mom sues Ohio hospital over stillborn baby's body

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — A lawsuit by a northeast Ohio woman alleges a hospital disposed of her stillborn infant's body without her consent and prevented her from having a proper funeral.

Lytanya (luh-TAHN'-yah) Wylie of Youngstown is seeking at least $25,000 in damages through the lawsuit filed this week against St. Elizabeth Health Center.

A hospital spokeswoman wouldn't comment on pending litigation but says the hospital system works to provide quality, compassionate care.

Wylie's attorney, John Shultz, says he and his client don't know what happened to the body and have received no answer from the hospital.

The lawsuit says Wylie was pregnant with twins and was told before her June delivery that one of them had died. She says she never saw the child after the delivery.

The second baby was delivered alive.
