Monster Job Search review

Monster Job Search tries to help you find your dream job by offering you the same powerful search feature as the website on which it's based, but is ridden with all kinds of technical faults such as log-in failures, job application errors, and random crashes.

Pros

Neat interface: Monster Job Search manages to avoid the unnecessary clutter of other job searching apps, keeping the search results neat -- at first you only get the job title, company, location, and date when last updated, which is just what you need. Everything else about the purple-white-blue UI, from the straightforward search window to the clean and easy-to-browse Favorites, looks good.

Favorites: You can effortlessly shortlist favorite jobs and keep track of them, both within the app and through email alerts.

Lots of listings: The app can retrieve a maximum of 250 job listings at a time, giving you plenty of options to choose from.

Cons

A technical mess: A host of diverse errors will keep frustrating you as you use the app. The worst is probably the log-in error; after we entered the correct log-in details, the app simply refused to log us in ten times or so before eventually relenting.

Filtering problems: Because the only search options are Job Title, Skills/Keywords, and Location, after every search you end up with loads of irrelevant results. Navigating your way through them takes way too much time.

Poor resume feature: Although we could edit cover letters, we were not able to edit or even delete resumes.

Bottom Line

Monster Job Search needs many improvements. This version doesn't do the website on which it's based justice, and if you're not the patient kind, will probably not last long on your device. We can't recommend an app full of errors, so if you really want it, you should look for a newer version, or better yet, stick to the website until the developers raise this app's quality.
