Morning Show Wars: ‘GMA’ Wins Viewers, ‘CTM’ Keeps Growing
All three broadcast morning shows have something to brag about.
ABC’s “Good Morning America” was No. 1 in total viewers during the week of Jan. 25, averaging over 5 million viewers. However, NBC’s “Today” show won the key demo by averaging 1.8 million viewers between ages 25-54.
Meanwhile, “CBS This Morning” averaged more than 4 million viewers in a week for the first time in 20 years and has shown the most growth among the three, despite finishing third in both viewers and the key demo.

“GMA” beat “CTM” by over 1 million total viewers, but the CBS morning show still managed its 40th consecutive month of year-over-year audience gains. “GMA” hasn’t experienced a year-over-year audience gain since April 2014 and “Today” hasn’t posted a year-over-year monthly increase since May 2014.
“CMT” co-anchor Gayle King is scheduled to interview President Obama during Sunday’s Super Bowl telecast, which will give the show additional exposure.
