Ty Segall Band's 'Slaughterhouse'

Californian psych rocker Ty Segall is a new face in the music blogosphere this week with the release of a much-hyped new tune from his freshly formed band. Also, Brookyn indie rock group Dive, the side project of Beach Fossils' frontman Zachary Cole Smith, announced the band's new name, Diiv, and shared a track.

Hailing from the Bay Area, Segall has produced four albums as a solo musician and contributed to a slew of indie acts, and he now has teamed up with Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart, and Emily Rose Epstein (collectively known as the Ty Segall Band) for a new album, Slaughterhouse, due out June 26 via In the Red Records. The band's first cut, "Wave Goodbye," is "crunchy psych-rock," describes blogger KEXP, while blogger Austin Town Hall adds that "it is very straight forward" and "ends in a pretty sweet rock out."

Of the new band name Diiv, Smith explained that it is an act of respect to Belgian artist Dirk Ivins, aka Dive. To coincide with the name change, Diiv released a new cut, "Doused," from their upcoming debut album Oshin, out June 26 via Captured Tracks.
