'Mother Hen' Kate Winslet Says She Fed Michael Fassbender on Steve Jobs Set After He Got 'Thinner and Thinner' for Role

BAFTAs 2016: Kate Winslet Wins Supporting Actress, Mark Rylance Wins Supporting Actor

Kate Winslet can't help but show her maternal side while shooting on set.

The actress, 40, admitted she was a bit of a "mother hen" to her costar Michael Fassbender while filming Steve Jobs.

"I actually felt as though I had to look after him a little because he was so immersed and focused on the role that I would sort of watch him getting thinner and thinner," she said while walking the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday night. "It was sort of a stress thing with him."

So what does any loving friend do in this situation? Feed them copious amounts of food, of course.

"I would keep trying to push chips in the way and try to arrange weekends away for him to go and relax and eat steaks," she laughed.

Both Winslet and Fassbender received nods for their performances in Steve Jobs, with Winslet hoping to take home a best supporting actress award and Fassbender going for best actor award.

In the film, Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman, Steve Jobs' colleague and confidante.

And while Winslet and Fassbender's characters have a special bond in the film, the actor said he also formed a close relationship with Winslet off-camera as well.

Fassbender, 38, couldn't help but gush about Winslet while talking to reporters on Sunday night.

"She's a class act." he said. "I love her. She's so much fun. She's brilliant. But both of us have similar styles in terms of preparing and work. We prepare a lot then on the day we have fun with it."

Fassbender also acknowledged Winslet's tendency to be the caretaker on set, calling her a "born leader."

"She's very generous and also a leader," he said. "She's one of those born leaders always making sure all the time that everyone is doing well and getting enough rest."
