MTV VMAs 2015: 5 Seconds Of Summer Thank Fans After Winning Song Of The Summer

We have some JOLLY GOOD NEWS for fans of 5 Seconds of Summer (who probably have sore thumbs right now), as you guys managed to send a straggering 52,970,094 votes to secure them the Song Of The Summer award.

Apt, really, considering the band’s name and all. Ahem.

Beating off competiton from Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and more, 5SOS nabbed the award for the awesome ‘She’s Kinda Hot’, which we have to admit we’ve had repeat for WEEKS.

Fans were so happy for the four-piece that they’ve been trending #CONGRATS5SOS for hours now. HURRAH.

Although the boys were sadly unable to make it to the awards ceremony in person, they celebrated their big award on stage, and took to Twitter after they found out the news to thank all their fans for their hard work.

It really was hard work, y’know. These fandoms don’t mess about when it comes to sending tweet-after-tweet, Instagram-after-Instagram to vote.

Sharing MTV’s photo announcing their win, Luke Hemmings thanked fans for all their votes, adding: “This is your award.”
