Museum confirms that a still life is by Van Gogh

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Researchers say a Vincent van Gogh still life whose authenticity had long been in doubt is by the tormented Dutch impressionist.

The Kroeller Mueller Museum says new X-ray research has finally put beyond doubt that "Still life with meadow flowers and roses" really is by Van Gogh.

It has also uncovered in greater detail an art school study by Van Gogh of two wrestlers concealed on the same canvas and invisible to the naked eye.

The still life has been owned by the Kroeller Mueller Museum since 1974 but its authenticity as a real Van Gogh was cast into doubt by the position of the signature and size of the canvas.

The museum says in a statement it will be hung from Tuesday alongside another Van Gogh flower still life.
