This week's new album releases
Each title listed below will go on sale beginning Tuesday, April 28 unless otherwise indicated.
Blur
. The Magic Whip
After flirting with reunions (including performances and a few new songs) over the past six years, the veteran Britpop band surprised fans this spring by announcing that they had completed work on a new album. Recorded in a Hong Kong studio in just five days but then fine-tuned over the course of the past year, The Magic Whip is Blur's first studio LP since 2003's Think Tank and their first album with guitarist Graham Coxon since 1999's 13. And even if Blur had released a few albums over the past decade, The Magic Whip would probably be the group's best album in years anyway; critics mostly love it so far.
Zac Brown Band
. Jekyll + Hyde
The first album in three years for the country rockers is their first released in conjunction with a new record label run by fashion designer John Varvatos. Guests on the 16-track set—which leans more heavily on the rock side of country-rock—include Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and Sara Bareilles.
Raekwon
. Fly International Luxurious Art
The Wu-Tang member's sixth solo album and first since 2011's Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, FILA features collaborations with A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz, Estelle, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, French Montana, and Busta Rhymes.
