'Mummies of the World' at the Franklin Institute
If your family is looking for an education and exciting day out, look no further than the Franklin Institute. Located at 222 N. 20th St., Philadelphia, the Franklin Institute is hosting an exhibit called "Mummies of the World." This exhibit features real mummies and artifacts from all corners of the globe. This is a family-friendly event that will not only educate, but entertain as well.
Ticket prices range depending upon your age and time of visit. From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., adult tickets are $26.50, senior tickets cost $24.50, and tickets for children ages 4-11 cost $19.50 each. If you are planning a night visit to the Franklin from Thursday through Sunday, you will receive a price break, with adult tickets costing $19.50, senior tickets costing $17.50, and tickets for children ages 4-11 costing $14.50.
Visit the Edgar Allan Poe house
One of the great literary geniuses that called Philadelphia home for some time was Edgar Allan Poe. It is believed that Poe's most productive years were spent in his house in Philadelphia. Located at 532 N. Seventh St., Philadelphia, the Edgar Allan Poe house is where the mysterious writer wrote such famous short stories as "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Black Cat," and "The Murders in the Rue Morgue."
Take a tour of Edgar Allan Poe's house and learn more about the widely misunderstood writer. The Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free for all.

Fort Mifflin is open for visitors Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tour groups are welcome. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12, and children 3 and under are admitted free of charge.
