N2K Presidential Race: Rivals' Talk Can't Top Romney's Walk

Newt Gingrich had a lot to say as he made his talk show rounds on Sunday.

He accused President Obama of “declaring war on the Catholic Church.” He called Mitt Romney “pro-abortion,” “pro-gun control” and “pro-tax increase.” He defended his lunar ambitions. And he said he would be “very competitive” in the delegate count, after Texas votes in April.

Santorum also spoke out, attacking both Romney and Gingrich. And so did Ron Paul, complaining that low turnout contributed to his performance—and that Nevada was still too early to call on Sunday morning when it came to second-place.

Conspicuously absent was Romney, who won big in Florida and Nevada and now faces a very friendly February elections calendar leading up to Super Tuesday. Such is the case for a frontrunner whose momentum is gaining: the numbers start to speak for themselves.
