LONDON (AP) — Rain played havoc with Saturday's schedule at Wimbledon everywhere except under the closed roof on Centre Court where Rafael Nadal recovered from a slow start with a Kazakhstan player who's never won a match here.
As he had in his first two matches, Nadal lost the opening set — this time in a tiebreaker. But he broke Mikhail Kukushkin's serve twice in the second set to win 6-1, evening the match after winning five consecutive games.
Rain first delayed the start of play on side courts for nearly two hours. But play only lasted about 15 minutes before rain began falling again and the covers were placed back on, suspending 16 matches and forcing others to be called off for the day.
Sunday is a scheduled off day.
