    Sustainable skincare company Marie Veronique Organics has launched the Acne Relief Kit, their very first collection aimed specifically at addressing the dual indignities of adult acne and aging. The four-part regimen is designed to clear up acne while combating the effects of aging.

    Conventional acne treatments, while effective at healing teenage acne, don’t specifically address adult acne, which provides its own unique challenges. “Traditional methods of treatment can dry, inflame and irritate, ultimately accelerating the aging process. Our regimen regulates oil production without over-exfoliating, keeping the skin balanced and nourished,” says founder Marie Veronique Nadeau.

    Sebum production slows upon entering adulthood, and the ingredients intended for adolescent skin are too harsh for mature skin. The Acne Relief Kit doesn’t contain any of the traditional active ingredients used to treat acne, such as retinoids, which can cause redness, peeling, dryness and UV sensitivity, and benzoyl peroxide, which creates free radicals that inhibit cell growth and new cell formation. (None of Marie Veronique Organics’ products contain waxes either, which are a frequent source of congestion.)

    The line consists of the Treatment Cleanser (4 oz, $37), Treatment Oil (1 oz, $80), Everyday Sheer Coverage (2 oz, $50), and Treatment Serum (1 oz, $90). The Treatment Cleanser dissolves dead skin cells with gentle lactic acid, while it kills bacteria with usnea extract and rosemary extract. Next, the Treatment Oil breaks up congestion with tea tree, sea buckthorn, and pumpkin seed oils, and calms inflammation with lavender, borage, and curcuma, restoring balance to aging skin. Everyday Sheer Coverage safely protects the skin from damaging UV rays with non-nano zinc oxide, defends against premature aging with a unique combination of natural humectants, emollients, and antioxidants, and evens skin tones leaving a lovely matte finish. Lastly, the Treatment Serum regulates sebum production with pantothenic acid at night and adds moisture with argan oil.
