Navy: Men who died on ship off Africa are ex-SEALs

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Navy says both of the American security officers found dead on a ship off the coast of Africa were former Navy SEALs.

Seychelles police say Mark Daniel Kennedy and Jeffrey Reynolds were found dead Tuesday in a cabin on the Norfolk-based Maersk Alabama. They have not given a cause of death.

The Navy provided summaries of their Navy service on Thursday. Kennedy enlisted in 1995. He was assigned to an East Coast special warfare team and completed his final tour of duty in 2008.

The record lists Kennedy's hometown as Baton Rouge, La., and his age as 43. Reynolds was 44. His record says his hometown is Fountain Valley, Calif. He was assigned to a West Coast special warfare unit. He was in the Navy from 1990 to 2000.
