NBA roundup: Odom arrested on suspicion of DUI

Veteran NBA forward Lamar Odom was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Friday morning after he was seen driving erratically on a Southern California freeway, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Odom was arrested at 3:54 a.m. and booked into Los Angeles County Jail in Van Nuys, Calif., about an hour later. He was reportedly swerving on the 101 Freeway in San Fernando Valley at about 50 mph.

California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull over Odom, but he kept driving until finally exiting off the freeway and coming to a stop. A CHP report said that Odom showed signs of drunkenness and was unable to perform field sobriety tests.

Odom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs. He refused all chemical tests at the jail, but was booked without resisting.

There were reports last weekend that Odom went missing after a disagreement with his wife, Khloe Kardashian, but his agent told ESPN on Monday that he was staying in a Los Angeles hotel and friends were trying to help him seek drug counseling.

---The Memphis Grizzlies on waived recently acquired Fab Melo.

The second-year center was acquired earlier this month from the Boston Celtics for the rights to forward Donte Green.

---The Toronto Raptors waived Quentin Richardson without the veteran swingman ever playing for the team, Yahoo! Sports reported.

Richardson came to the Raptors in an offseason trade with the New York Knicks that involved Andrea Bargnani. The journeyman was included because his salary was needed to make the deal work.

The 33-year-old Richardson was due to make the veteran league minimum of $1.4 million this season.
