The ‘Netflix for Pirates’ just released a new iOS app – no jailbreak required

It’s been one year since Popcorn Time, a.k.a. the “Netflix for Pirates,” took the online world by storm. And to celebrate, the website has unveiled a new iOS app that won’t require you to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad to use.

According to Popcorn Time, to use the new app “you will need to download the iOS installer to your dekstop PC, attach your iOS device to your PC with a USB cable and follow the instructions the iOS installer shows you.” You still have the option of installing Popcorn Time on your jailbroken iPhone, of course, by installing it directly through Cydia. You aren’t going to see the app show up on the iTunes App Store anytime soon for very obvious reasons.

To celebrate its anniversary, Popcorn Time also put out a celebration video that contains clever references to A Clockwork Orange, Titanic, The Godfather, Fight Club, The Wolf of Wall Street and other classic films. In fact, it even goes so far as to reference goofy old Old Spice ads and last summer’s “Ice Bucket Challenge” viral video craze. Check it out below.
