Netflix Sets Premiere Dates for Orange Is the New Black Season 3, Its Wet Hot American Summer Prequel, and More

Netflix is giving you plenty of time to clear your summer calendar, stock up on munchies, and warn your friends about when you'll be disappearing for a few days. The streaming-video service has announced premiere dates for a handful of its original programs, including its finest one of all, the women's-prison dramedy Orange Is the New Black.

Your visiting rights at the Litchfield Penitentiary will be restored on Friday, June 12, when the show returns for Season 3. As usual, all 13 episodes will be released at midnight Pacific time, so if you're so inclined, you can gorge yourself and be done with before the end of the afternoon. Or you can be a weirdo and watch the finale first thing. It's your choice.

Elsewhere on Netflix's schedule, the six-part science-fiction series Between will debut in May (an exact date will be announced a later date). Starring iCarly's Jennette McCurdy, the series centers on a town where a mysterious disease has killed everyone over the age of 21. Between joins the previously scheduled Grace and Frankie on Netflix's May release calendar.

June will then bring another science-fiction series, Sense8, about eight strangers from around the world who find themselves emotionally and mentally connected. Premiering one week before Orange Is the New Black on Friday, June 5, Sense8 was created by the creators of the Matrix trilogy, Andy and Lana Wachowski.

Finally, Netflix's TV prequel of the cult film Wet Hot American Summer—titled Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, will debut on Friday, July 17. The project features an especially impressive talent roster that includes original cast members Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, and Bradley Cooper, as well as several new-to-Camp Firewood players like Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, John Slattery, and more.
