    News Summary: Judge OKs deal on e-book pricing

    TURNING THE PAGE: U.S. District Judge Denise Cote approved a Justice Department settlement with three electronic book publishers accused of engaging in a price-fixing scheme with Apple Inc., and the iPad maker's late CEO, Steve Jobs.

    THE TERMS: The ruling released in New York Thursday ratifies an agreement reached nearly five months ago. The deal requires the publishers — Hachette, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster — to scrap a pricing system conceived with Apple before the iPad's release in 2010.

    STILL TO COME: Apple and two other publishers plan to fight the Justice Department's allegations in a June 2013 trial.

Perry, as the governor of Texas, has little on-its-face reason to be in Connecticut. Except, of course, for one: Texas's unemployment rate, which at 6.4 percent in April is significantly lower than the national average, is still not quite ideal. Perry wants to bring jobs to his state. And, as he sees it, some of those jobs could come from Connecticut.
