NEW YORK (AP) -- RADIO HEAD: Satellite radio company Sirius XM Radio Inc. has promoted James Meyer to interim CEO as it looks for a replacement for Mel Karmazin. Meyer, president of sales and operations, is also joining the board.

PLANNED MOVE: Sirius announced in October that Karmazin planned to step down as CEO and a board member.

SEARCH ON: Sirius' search committee is looking at internal and external candidates to fill the position permanently. The search committee is being led by Liberty Media Corp. CEO Greg Maffei. Liberty, which rescued Sirius from bankruptcy in 2009, is trying to take over Sirius.
