2 hospitalized after car flies 40 feet off cliff in Angeles National Forest

Two people were hospitalized after a crash sent a vehicle plummeting off a cliff in the Angeles National Forest.

According to information from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, units responded to a report of a two-vehicle traffic collision at mile marker 24 of San Gabriel Canyon Road at 11:50 p.m. Sunday.

A CHP spokesperson confirmed the two-car crash but could not confirm if both vehicles involved went over the edge of the cliff.

Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows first responders navigating through brush on the mountainside to get to one of the wrecked vehicles. One of the occupants was trapped and had to be extricated.

The two victims were transported to nearby hospitals by air and on the ground; their conditions were not available. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
