2 women kidnapped, robbed at gunpoint near Trinity Trails, Fort Worth police say

Two women were preparing for an early Sunday morning run along the Trinity Trails when they were kidnapped at gunpoint, according to Fort Worth police.

Officers responded to a Trinity Trails mile marker near Trinity Park around 6:40 a.m. Sunday after a 911 caller reported that three men wearing ski masks tried to steal her car.

The victim told police she and a friend met up at that location so they could go on a run together, officials said. Three men in a white Cadillac approached them with a gun. One man forced the women to get into the backseat of one of the victim’s vehicles, and the other two men got in the front seat.

The women were driven to Echo Lake, police said, and then made to get out of the vehicle.

The victims, who spoke to Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV but asked not to be identified for safety concerns, said the experience was terrifying. The suspects destroyed the women’s phones and Apple watches and kept a gun pointed at them all the way to Echo Lake.

“I was really, really scared,” one of the women told WFAA. “I really thought we were gonna get raped or they were gonna kill us because they wanted our devices gone.”

Another man was waiting for the suspects at Echo Lake, WFAA reported. He assured the women they would be OK and told them to wait behind a shed. A short time later the suspects returned the vehicle key to the women and let them go.

One of the women told WFAA that she’s still confused about what happened.

“If that was their motive to just rob us, they could’ve just done it there at the park,” she said to WFAA. “They didn’t have to kidnap us and take us to another location.”

Police said they are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
